A squad of eighteen Pakistan Test players has been announced by chief selector Wahab Riaz for the three matches that the country will play in Australia between December 14, 2023, and January 7, 2024. After a promising domestic season so far right-arm fast bowler Khurram Shahzad has also been called up for his debut Test match. In eight Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023–24 matches, the 23-year-old claimed 36 wickets at an average of 20.31, making him the top wicket-taker. He also grabbed 13 wickets at an average of 16.62 in the recently concluded Pakistan Cup and selected Pak Vs Aus 2023-24.

Fast-bowling all-around talent Faheem Ashraf made his Test debut for Pakistan in late 2022 during England's tour of that country. Since then he has returned to the group and played against Pak Vs Aus 2023-24.

During the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023–24, left-arm pacer Mir Hamza and right-arm bowler Muhammad Wasim Jr. found their form again, combining for 32 wickets at an average of 20.88. The two fast bowlers were part of Pakistan's squad in December 2022 and January 2023, when they were on tour in New Zealand Muhammad Wasim Jr. played in Pak Vs Aus 2023-24.

Chief selector Wahab Riaz, reflecting on the squad selected for the Australia tour, said: “Considering the difficult conditions in Australia, the team has been put together. In order to provide the management flexibility with the lineups for all three Test matches, we have taken into consideration the pitches and increased the team's resources for pace bowling.



“Saim Ayub's outstanding domestic season this year led to his inclusion in the team. During the Pakistan Cup and Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, he made an impact with the bat, strengthening his case for selection Pak Vs Aus 2023-24. His addition will bolster our strong lineup of batters.

“Following their triumph in Sri Lanka earlier this year, Pakistan has got off to a great start in the ICC World Test Championship 2023–25. We're hoping the squad can continue this positive trend while they're in Australia. We have made an effort to provide the group with the necessary tools so they may succeed in Australia.”

Pak Vs Aus 2023-24 Before the visit, on November 22, the team will meet in Rawalpindi for a training camp. The camp at Pindi Cricket Stadium is slated to run from November 23 to November 28. The group is scheduled to leave Lahore via plane on November 30. A few more players have been asked to participate in the training camp additionally.
